Just in time for Christmas here is an easy arrangement of Silent Night for you to start working on.
This chord progression: Aadd9 4x Cmaj7 4x is non-diatonic which means you have to use at least 2 different scales to solo over it. Here are some suggestions:
A Major pentatonic for the Aadd9 and C Major pentatonic for the Cmaj7
A Major scale and the C Major scale
A Mixolydian and C Lydian
C#m pentatonic and Em pentatonic
F#m pentatonic and Am pentatonic scale
If you treat the Aadd9 as a dominant 7th you might get away with playing the Em pentatonic scale over both chords.
Have fun.
A Major Rock Ballad. Solo over this one with the A major scale or match each chord with the correct pentatonic scale. This is a great workout for your CAGED pentatonic shapes.
